Join us for our 5-week Jr. Naturalists Tree ID Series, where young naturalists will head into the field each Saturday to discover and identify different trees found throughout our region. Rather than trying to learn everything in a single workshop, each week will introduce new trees, new identifying features, and new opportunities to practice, allowing participants to build their knowledge throughout the series.
We’ll learn to recognize trees using leaves, bark, twigs, buds, shape, texture, and other natural clues, while developing observation skills that can be used throughout the seasons.
Attend the full series to build a much broader knowledge of our local trees and learn to recognize many of the species you encounter in the woods and around your own backyard.
By the end, we want our Jr. Naturalists to walk through the forest and begin saying, “I know that tree!”
