Participants will make a 2-pound batch of soap and learn the basics of traditional cold process soapmaking, including working with oils, lye solution, fragrance oils, and natural additives. Cold process soap is made by combining oils and sodium hydroxide (lye), which undergo a chemical reaction called saponification to create a gentle, long-lasting bar of soap. This method allows for endless creativity and produces beautiful, high-quality soap that continues to cure and harden over several weeks.
Each participant will take home their 2-pound batch of soap, along with the reusable soap mold and liner used during class so they can continue soapmaking at home. No prior experience is necessary. Just come ready to learn, create, and have fun!
